My thatched cottage is broken by the autumn wind,

In the eighth month, the autumn is high, and the wind roars fiercely.

It rolls up three layers of thatch on my roof,

Swirling as if to fly, how can it roar?

The children of the southern village mock me, old and weak,

How can I bear to see them as thieves?

They openly carry the thatch into the bamboo grove,

Their lips are dry, and they can't call out.

Returning, I lean on my staff and sigh,

Suddenly, the wind calms down, the clouds turn ink black,

The autumn is bleak, and it is getting dark.

The quilt has been cold like iron for many years,

The darling child is lying awkwardly, stepping on the torn inside.

There is no dry place on the bed, the raindrops like hemp do not stop,

Since the chaos, I have had little sleep,

In the long night, how can I endure the dampness?

How can I have a thousand houses, to shelter all the poor scholars with joy,

Unmoved by wind and rain, as firm as a mountain?

Alas! When will this house appear before my eyes,

Even if my thatched cottage is broken and I freeze to death, it is enough!
